Edwina M. Blier (1938-2018)

VAN BUREN, Maine – Edwina M. Blier, 79, was called by the Lord on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at a Van Buren heath care facility. She was born on July 4, 1938, in Grand Falls, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Maxime “Mackarelle” and Rose-Anna (Lavoie) Michaud.
Edwina was a devoted mother and homemaker. She idolized her family and cherished family gatherings and their many visits. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, a member of the St. Bruno Choir, the Columbiettes, and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Gerald E. Blier of Van Buren; two children, Debbie Grothaus and her husband, Mike, of New Mexico, and Gerry Blier and his wife, Barbara, of Van Buren; eight grandchildren, Isaac, Jeremy, Sam, Anna, Amy, Mary, Jarret, and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Edwina was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. There will be no calling hours. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwina’s name may be made to: Knights of Columbus Parish Needs Fund, 284 Main St., Van Buren, ME 04785.
