Fourth annual community-wide yard sale scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend
MADAWASKA, Maine — The St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce has organized the fourth annual community-wide yard sale for over the Memorial Day weekend.
The yard sale always happens Memorial Day weekend, according to Brian Bouley, executive director for the chamber.
Maps will be available beginning Friday, May 25, at 5 p.m. in the St. John Valley Chamber of Commerce office, and at Morin’s Variety on Saturday and Sunday.
While a majority of participants are located in Madawaska, residents from the communities of St. Agatha, Grand Isle, Frenchville, and Sinclair are participating in, what Bouley hopes to be, the largest community wide yard sale thus far.
“We usually get people from all over the state,” Bouley said in reference to buyers. He added that a lot of Canadian shoppers also attend.
So far, the participants exceed 60 individuals registered. This is a record high according to Bouley.
“I’m hoping we hit 75 participants,” Bouley said. “The sky’s the limit. we are in uncharted territory.”
The deadline to register for the yard sale is Thursday at 5 p.m. with all of the fees and sponsorships going toward advertising for the event.
