Customers round up heavyweight donation for booster club

FORT KENT, Maine — Two competing Fort Kent grocery stores came out swinging at the beginning of March in a “Round It Up” fundraiser, and the result, according to organizers, was a “heavyweight” sized donation to support the FKCHS/VRMS Athletic Booster Club.

Paradis Shop ‘n Save and John’s Shurfine staffers asked customers to round up their purchases to the next dollar with the balance being donated to the booster club.

The collaborative effort between the stores helped raise $2,708.75 for the local student athletes.
