Crosswinds residents walk halls to mark heart health month

FORT KENT, Maine — Crosswinds residents walked the halls of the residential care center to celebrate the American Heart Association’s American Heart Month in February.

Close to 30 residents logged many miles between them on Thursday mornings and in doing so, inspired an anonymous person to donate money to Northern Maine Medical Center on behalf of the residents.

The residents also snacked on healthy treats to celebrate heart health, including rice cakes with peanut butter, bananas and raisins.

The many activities the residents engage in at Crosswinds has helped to keep them busy while the center temporarily keeps it’s doors closed to visitors until further notice due to many viruses such as influenza making their rounds in the Fort Kent community.
