Roland Roy (1938—2018)

EAGLE LAKE, Maine — Roland Roy, 79, died peacefully at his place of residence with family by his side on February 16, 2018. Roland was born in Eagle Lake on May 16, 1938, the son of George and Edna (Madore) Roy.

Roland was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of Fort Kent Council #0352, he enjoyed taking his walks, gardening, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his four sons, Roland Roy Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Hill, of Fort Kent, Allen Roy and Robert Roy, both of Ballston Spa, NY, and Jeffrey Roy of Eagle Lake; six grandchildren, Brandon, Russell, Shane, Jared, Taylor, and Logan; seven siblings, Edford and wife, Genesta Roy, Camille and wife, Dale Roy, Norman and wife, Laure Roy, Maxine and husband, Gerald LaFrance, Anita and husband, Gary Griffeth, and Mildred Martin, all of Eagle Lake, and Rita Boutot of Quimby; one brother-in-law, Nolan Fournier of Eagle Lake, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Soucie of Winterville. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased by his wife, Maxine (Belanger) Roy in 2009, and one sister, Theresa Fournier in 2017.

Friends may call on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Spring burial will be held in the parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish in Roland’s memory may donate to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., PO Box 9376, Framingham, MA 01701-9376. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
