Valley Rivers girls finish first at County middle school Nordic meet

ASHLAND, Maine — The girls of Valley Rivers Middle School in Fort Kent captured first place at Monday’s Aroostook County Nordic Championships, which took place in Ashland on a three kilometer classic ski course.

Fort Kent’s Nancy Martin (13:25.6) finished third behind Caribou’s Kaley Bell (13:17.2) and Woodland’s Saffayia Dupero (13:17.9), who came in first and second, respectively.

Valley Rivers’ other top-ten skiers were Madeline Philbrook (6) and Morgan Cyr (9).

Madawaska’s top skier was Chantel Ackley, who finished eighth.

Presque Isle’s top finisher was Maddie Jackson (16). Lacey Jandreau (4) was the top skier for Ashland.

Lucas Streinz of Katahdin took the top boys’ spot with a time of 9:25.0. Caribou’s Elliot Sleeper (10:44.3) came in second and Woodland’s Ulli Margeson (11:39.7) finished third.

Ian Beaulieu’s fourth place finish was tops for Madawaska. Mitchel Harvey (25) was the only Fort Kent boy to ski on Monday.

Ashland’s top boy was Clark Condon (6). Cooper Boinste (29) was the top skier for Presque Isle.

Caribou came out on top of the boys’ team results on Monday.
