Louise Gendreau (1937—2017)

ST. DAVID, Maine — Louise Gendreau, 80, passed away on Sunday morning, January 28, 2018, at a Fort Kent healthcare facility. She was born on September 9, 1937, in St. Agatha, a daughter of the late Michel and Anna (Pelletier) Hebert.

Though she was a dedicated mother and wife, she worked many years as a CNA at local nursing homes, and as a doctor’s aide/receptionist for former Dr. Faucher, of Grand Isle. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. During her younger years, Louise adored going dancing with her husband or spending an evening at home playing cards.

She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Clifford Gendreau of Madawaska, formerly of St. David; two children, Phil Gendreau and his wife, Debbie, of Madawaska, and Dana Gendreau of St. David; five grandchildren, Dustin, Christina, Eric, Sara, and Joe; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by four brothers, Monfort, Kenneth, Edmond, and Leo.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at St. David Catholic Church, St. David. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday 9-9:30 a.m. at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska.
