Gene Cormier (1954—2018)

VAN BUREN, Maine — Gene Cormier, 63, passed away on January 3, 2018, following a brief illness, at a Bangor hospital. He was born on October 10, 1954, in Van Buren, a son of the late Guillaume and Hattie (Vaillancourt) Cormier, and the husband of the late Anita (Thibodeau) Cormier.

Gene last worked for Gervais Farms, Limestone, for many years. Previously he worked as a potato truck driver for various farms around the St. John Valley. He enjoyed tinkering and repairing many electronics, cherished vising his grandchildren, and sharing cups of coffee at the local gas stations and corner stores.

He is survived by three children, Guy Cormier of Perham, Anne Cormier and her companion, Luc Theriault, and Jeanny Cormier, all of St. Leonard, NB, Canada; one sister, Theresa Levesque and her husband, Gerald, of Van Buren; seven brothers, Percy and his wife, Tina, Nelson and his wife, Ann-Marie, Roger and his wife, Gloria, Harold and his companion, Irene, Daniel and his wife, Yvette, and Steve Cormier and his wife, Bridget, all of Van Buren, and Fred Cormier and his wife, Susan, of Island Falls; four grandchildren, Erica, Tanya, Terry, and Dominic; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, at St. Bruno’s Catholic Church, Van Buren. Online condolences may be expressed at
