Weather forces rescheduling of Madawaska citizen ski race

MADAWASKA, Maine —  The latest winter storm has forced organizers to push back the date for the annual Deprey Classic citizens’ Nordic race from Saturday to Sunday.

The event, the first of several Aroostook Cup Nordic ski events this season, will now start at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, at the Four Season Trail Association facility.

High school students or younger skiers may race in the youth group. Anyone older may sign up as an adult racer. The entry fees are $2 for youth and $10 for youth. Registration opens at 10 a.m.

The 6-kilometer course, which will include classic tracks and an open freestyle section, will follow the Green Pail Trail.

Food will be available to purchase on site and there will be raffle prizes. Four Season also will have other open trials for non skiers and a sledding area available.
