Frenchville couple continue their sons Nutcracker collection legacy

MADAWASKA, Maine — Romeo and Rita Bouchard of Frenchville, who recently moved to Ridgewood Estates in Madawaska, hold a nutcracker belonging to their late son, David, and a photo of the three of them. The couple have donated more than 60 nutcrackers of all sizes and colors which belonged to David, the youngest of their five children. Wherever David went, he either knew or met new friends, and always had a smile. David began his collection after receiving his first nutcracker when he was in his 40s. The Bouchards’ Frenchville home was known for the beautiful Christmas decorations. People from all over the Valley would go to see the lights, and Mrs. Bouchard would greet them with a special gift. As David’s collection grew, his mother would display them in the windows. As time passed, people from all over would give David nutcrackers. Though he passed away in August, his memory will live on in this collection, which staff have placed throughout Ridgewood.
