NWS issues weather advisory for Dec. 23-24

CARIBOU, Maine — The National Weather Service Office in Caribou has issued a winter weather advisory beginning at 1 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23, in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 24.

The advisory includes the northeastern and northwestern Aroostook County communities of Allagash, Clayton Lake, Madawaska, Fort Kent, Frenchville, Presque Isle, Caribou, Van Buren and Mars Hill.

Heavy mixed precipitation is expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch are expected, along with significant reductions in visibility.
