UMFK students prove green thumbs can grown produce in any season

FORT KENT, Maine — Cold temperatures didn’t stop University of Maine at Fort Kent students from harvesting 23 pounds of baby carrots and eight bags of spinach and lettuce mix from the UMFK greenhouse on Dec. 4. This was the final harvest in the greenhouse and students were thrilled to see their hard work come to fruition. Harvesting vegetables are, from left, in front, Kevaughan Smith and Liam Daniels, and in back, Taya Harting and Elysia WIlson.
