Police charge Fort Kent man in hit and run case

FORT KENT, Maine — Local police have charged a Fort Kent man in connection with an incident earlier this month when a driver smashed his vehicle into a fence at someone’s home and then drove off.

The Fort Kent Police Department had sought the public’s help identifying the driver of the vehicle that left the road and destroyed a portion of a white picket fence at the home on Market Street sometime late Dec. 2 or early Dec. 3. The driver then left the scene without reporting the accident.

A witness came forward with new information about the incident after the FKPD requested the public’s help via news outlets and a post on the department’s Facebook page.

Officer Michael DeLena investigated and has since charged Danny Pelletier, 25, with leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Pelletier will appear on Friday, Jan. 26, at Fort Kent District Court.
