Carlton H. Gehring (1929—2017)

BRICKTOWNSHIP, NJ, and EAGLE LAKE, Maine — Carlton H. Gehring, 88, died unexpectedly on December 8, 2017, at Caribou. He was born in Rahway, NJ, on February 6, 1929, the son of the Honorable Clifford and Ada (Worth) Gehring.

He was a graduate of the Pingry School in Elizabeth, NJ, and served with the US Army during Korea. Mr. Gehring was a real estate broker in Shore Acres, NJ, for a number of years. He loved the quietness of his camp on Eagle Lake, watching the birds at his feeders and sitting along the shore feeding the camp chipmunks. Many will remember Carlton as a quiet, gentle man.

He will be missed by his two nephews, Clifford H. Gehring of Sanford and William Gehring and wife, Vicky, of Caribou; a grand-nephew, Alex, and a grand-niece, Sage, both of whom he was very proud; a sister-in-law, Annabelle Gehring, as well as his special friend, Patty. He was predeceased by his brother, Clifford P. Gehring.

A private family service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. Arrangements by the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou.
