From left are, in front, the guest of honor and her granddaughter Monique; and in back, Irene’s daughter-in-law and son, Julie and Roger Charette; their daughter and Irene’s granddaughter, Francine and her children, Elizabeth and Alan, and husband Joseph. Irene was born in Grand Isle and has been a large part of her community throughout her life, generously helping those who are in need. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and volunteered at the local thrift shop. She was the first married woman hired at Fraser Paper, where she worked in the finishing department and retired at the age of 62. She also owned Irene’s Dress shop in the 1990s, which was on the site of the current Mad Rx.
