Nelson R. ‘Ray’ Dionne (1954—2017)

WESTFIELD, Mass. — Nelson R. ‘Ray’ Dionne, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Fort Kent, ME, to the late Omer and Mabel (Pelletier) Dionne and was a 1954 graduate of Fort Kent Community High School.

Ray served his country in the United States Army during Korea from 1954-1956 and was honorably discharged with the rank of SP3. He worked as a machinist for Advance Manufacturing and retired after 33 years. Ray was a member of the Hampton Ponds Association, Westfield Sportsman Club, and a life member of the NRA.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Jean A. (Ezold) Dionne in 2015 as well as three sisters, Reinette Deschine, Joella Deprey and Dora-Jean Michaud. Ray is survived by his two loving sons, Raymond A. Dionne of Westfield, and Robert A. Dionne and his wife, Karen of Holyoke, his brother, Joseph R. Dionne and his wife, Lorraine of Westfield, a sister Dora-Mae Voisine of Chicopee, his cherished five grandchildren, Melanie, Stephanie and her husband, Roger, Amanda Jean, Cody and Tanner, and three great-grandchildren, Mya, Skye and Ayden.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. from the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd., Westfield. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
