Nelson Dionne (1935—2017)

MADAWASKA, Maine — Nelson Dionne, 82, passed away October 19, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born April 23, 1935, in Edmundston, NB, Canada, a son of the late Armand and Alma (Beaulieu) Dionne.

Nelson worked many years at Fraser Paper, Madawaska. He was an avid reader but most especially enjoyed being outdoors to enjoy the St. John Valley’s natural splendors during his long walks. He is fondly remembered as a devoted family man who truly cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by five children, Theresa (James) Franklin of Charleston, NY, Michel Dionne of Bristol, CT, Lisa Dionne of Broomfield, CO, Paul (Marylyn) Dionne of Farmington, CT, and Linda (Christopher) Bauer of Lusby, MD; five grandchildren, Sean and Erik Franklin, Paige Dionne, and Aubrey and Bryson Bauer; six siblings, Berthe Dechaine, Jeannine Fortier, Claudette Gallant, Carmen Boucher, Lucette Dionne, and Reno Dionne; and several nieces and nephews

Besides his parents, Nelson was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Bernice (Paradis) Dionne, in 2002, and three siblings, Yollande Valcourt, Rita Bouchard, and Roger Dionne.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 24, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, St. Thomas St., Madawaska. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
