‘Spooktacular’ Saturday scares up $1,000 for Wallagrass pavilion

WALLAGRASS, Maine — The Soldier Pond Revitalization Committee hosted a Spooktacular 5K Run and Walk fundraiser on Sat., Oct. 21, followed by the Annual Soldier Pond Revitalization Committee Kitchen Party, Chicken Stew Meal & Country Music Jamboree at the Sly Brook Clubhouse.

The race took participants through the woods and fields around Soldier Pond, starting and finishing at the former Wallagrass Elementary School.

The committee is raising money to build a new pavilion at the Soldier Pond boat landing.

“Between the 5K and the country music event, we raised $1,000 total for the new pavilion,” said event organizer Jamie Pelletier.

“Due to a course deviation on the part of the race committee, we ended up with two winners in each category,” Pelletier said.

Spooktacular 5K winners for the men’s category were Don Eno and Shane Durost.

On the women’s side the winners were Katie Malone and Margaret Guimond.

The junior class winner was Jack Desjardins.
