Hornets overwhelm Pioneers in girls’ soccer season closer

ASHLAND, MaineAmber Chasse scored four times to power the Ashland Hornets to victory against the Wisdom Pioneers, 14-0, Tuesday.

Shelby Stolze and Morgan Doughty each had a hat trick for 13-1 Ashland, while Willow Hall, Olivia Tardie, Danni Carter and Kassandra Nelson tallied a goal apiece.

Morgan Doughty notched three assists for the Hornets. Megan Cote made seven saves on seven shots, recording her ninth shutout of the season.

Emma Chamberland made 15 saves on 40 shots for Wisdom of St. Agatha (7-6-1).

Each team is headed to postseason in Class D North play, with the Hornets ranked 2nd and the Pioneers 8th.

On the boys’ side, Dylan Haley scored an unassisted goal with less than 12 minutes to play in the game, lifting the Hornets to victory, 1-0.

Overall, Ashland outshot Wisdom 20-2 in the game.

The Pioneers closed the season with a record of 3-11. Ashland, ranked 12th and headed to the playoffs, ended the regular season at 6-6-2.
