St. Agatha recreation department raises nearly $300 with raffle

ST. AGATHA, Maine — Roland Bourgoin won a new 2nd generation LG 8-inch tablet as part of a St. Agatha Recreation Department raffle held to raise funds for needed bus repairs. After supporters of the department sold tickets for a month, Bourgoin’s name was drawn on Oct. 2.

The vehicle, an old school bus that the recreation department uses for field trips, was brought to a local garage earlier this fall, where it was determined that “major repairs” were needed. No money had been budgeted to pay for the cost of these repairs, according to Town Manager Aubrie Michaud.

St. Agatha resident Luc Albert, who owns Northern Airwaves in Madawaska, donated  the tablet. The raffle raised $287 for the recreation department.

“It really brings to light that, even though we’re a small town, the people here have big hearts and will do what they can to help out,” Michaud said.
