Chanel Joseph Sirois

BEAUFORT, South Carolina — Chanel Joseph Sirois, age 68, died on September 27, 2017 in Beaufort, SC.

Chanel was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam where he played music in the Special Forces. He, along with three or four other servicemen, traveled the front lines by helicopter to entertained Green Berets who were fighting there. He said, “We were always shot at flying in and flying out, but never while we played. I guess the Viet Cong liked our music, too.”

Chanel was born and raised in Madawaska, ME, but spent most of his adult life in Albuquerque, NM, with his wife Maud Fernande (Bonneau) Sirois who also died on December 3, 2013.

He is the son of Camille Patrick Sirois, deceased, and Aurore (Pelletier) Sirois, deceased. Chanel is survived by five siblings: Arleen Sirois and her husband Michael Gagnon of Henderson, NV, Ronald Sirois and his wife Lena of Madawaska, Louise Sirois of Beaufort, SC, Richard Sirois and his wife Carmen of Madawaska, and Doreen Moore and her husband Billy of Citrus Springs, FL.

Chanel was a low-keyed, kind man, and everyone who knew him liked him. He endeared himself with a never-failing, often self-deprecating, sense of humor.

He was cremated in South Carolina, and his remains will be transported and buried in Maine.
