Clayton Coulombe (1933—2017)

FORT KENT, Maine — Clayton Coulombe, 84, died peacefully surrounded by his family on September 18, 2017 at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. He was born in Fort Kent, January 13, 1933 the son of Henry and Sadie (Marquis) Coulombe.

Clayton was a certified potato grower for 42 years and served as Director of the following: Maine Potato Marketing Commission, the Caribou Agway Store, the Agricultural Bargaining Council, National Potato Council and Maine Corp., Past member of the Seed Growers Ass., Colby Starch Bankruptcy Court Advisor, St. John Valley Packing Shed Stockholder, Maine Outstanding Young Farmer and Spoke Award in 1966 and published in 1967 3rd Edition of Outstanding Young Men of America, Maine State National Guard, Sgt., Patrick Theriault School Advisory Committee, Volunteer Fire Department in T. 17 Range 5. He was a member of the Fort Kent Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, member and former director of the Fort Kent Jaycees and Lions Club.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Rita “Bobbie” (Laferriere) Coulombe of Fort Kent, one daughter, Mariya Rau and two twin grandsons; Sean and Thomas Rau, both serving in the US Navy all of Miami, FL; three sisters; Rena Mae Rioux, Claudette and husband Phil Levesque, Henrietta “Babe” and husband Ray Montagna. He is also survived by one brother-in-law and several beloved sisters-in-law. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Clayton was predeceased by two sisters, Laurina Albert and Judy Coulombe, and two brothers, Allan and Raymond Coulombe.

Friends may call Friday, September 22, 2017 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial with full Military and Fourth Degree Honors will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services with Military Honors will follow in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Daigle, ME.
