Madawaska girls defend home field in 4-3 win over Central Aroostook

MADAWASKA, Maine — The Owls pulled out a 4-3 win against the visiting Panthers of Central Aroostook on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The win put the Owls in fifth place, with a 4-1 record, in the Class D North girls standings.

All the scoring occurred in the first half, with Madawaska’s Hannah Nadeau netting two goals and teammates Kasie Blanchette and Dakota Cyr each adding a goal.

For the 3-3 Panthers, Kayal Martin scored two and Katie Levesque scored one goal.

Cassidy Beaulieu of Madawaska made seven saves on 10 shots to hold on to the win. Macy Coffin of Central Aroostook made 11 saves on 24 shots from the commanding Madawaska offense.

So far this season, the Owls have scored 42 goals, while allowing just eight. Their only loss came in a 1-0 game against Houlton, which currently sits atop the Class C North standings at 2-0.

The Owls are set to next host St. John Valley rival Fort Kent Community High School on Sept. 12.
