NMMC serves up locally sourced, fresh produce

In keeping with its commitment for purchasing locally grown produce, Northern Maine Medical Center recently served up delicious pepper-seasoned roasted zucchini.

Earlier this year, NMMC sought proposals from local producers to provide quality seasonal fruits and vegetables for employees and patients, but also to support local businesses. The hospital recently partnered with Adam Paradis to purchase locally grown zucchini. Nutrition Department personnel cooked up approximately 30 pounds of the fresh vegetables, which were served to patients, employees and the public. Gail Marquis, Nutrition Department Supervisor said, “The zucchini was so fresh when we received it from the local farmer -it was really nice to work with a quality product.” Robin Damboise, NMMC Department Director, NMMC is still accepting proposals from local growers.
