SJV weather for Wednesday, Aug. 16 to Tuesday, Aug. 22

Canadian high pressure will bring cooler, drier conditions to the SJV Wednesday and Thursday with partly cloudy to mostly clear skies across the region. A front approaches Friday into Saturday with considerable cloudiness and increasing chances for rain by Saturday. Sunday sees mostly cloudy skies and a chance for showers that diminishes as the day progresses. High pressure over the Middle Atlantic region builds in Monday with warmer, increasingly humid conditions across the Valley with a some clouds for the partial solar eclipse visible from northern Maine Monday afternoon. Tuesday sees mostly sunny skies across the area as high pressure drifting towards the Southeast remains in control of the Valley’s weather.

Wednesday, August 16: High: upper 60s to near 70. Low: near 50.

Day: Partly cloudy with west winds 10-15 mph. Overnight: Partly cloudy to mostly clear with west winds 5-10 mph.

Thursday, August 17: High: low 70s. Low: upper 40s.

Day: Partly cloudy with northwest winds 10-15 mph. Overnight: Partly cloudy with northwest winds 5-10 mph.

Friday, August 18: High: mid-70s. Low: low 50s.

Day: Partly cloudy in the morning then partly cloudy to partly sunny in the afternoon. East winds 5-10 mph. Overnight: Becoming mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance for rain. Around one-quarter inch possible. Southeast winds 5-10 mph.

Saturday, August 19: High: near 70. Low: near 60.

Day: Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance for showers with less than one-tenth inch expected. Southeast winds 5-10 mph. Overnight: Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance for showers with less than one-tenth inch of precipitation. South winds 5-10 mph.

Sunday, August 20: High: low 70s. Low: mid-50s.

Day: Considerable cloudiness with a 40 percent chance for showers. A couple hundredths of an inch total expected.  West winds 5-10 mph. Overnight: Becoming partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance for showers. Northwest winds 5-10 mph.

Monday, August 21: High: mid-70s. Low: mid-50s.

The partial solar eclipse starts around 1:30 p.m. and ends around 3:50 p.m.

Day: Partly cloudy with northwest winds 10-15 mph. Overnight: Mostly clear with southwest winds 0-5 mph.

Tuesday, August 22: High: near 80. Low: near 60.

Day: Partly cloudy with southwest winds 5-10 mph. Overnight: Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance for showers. Between one-tenth and one-quarter inch possible. Southwest winds 5-10 mph.
