Germaine Cyr (1927—2017)

MADAWASKA, Maine — Germaine Cyr, 90, passed away August 2, 2017 at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born in St. David on March 23, 1927, daughter of the late Eugene and Mattie (Chasse) Beaulieu.

Germaine owned and operated Cyr’s Neighborhood Store for twenty-two years and worked at Tang Palace for twenty-two years as well. She was a communicant of St. David Church for many years and a member of Ladies of St. Anne, Daughters of Isabella, Lioness Club, and she worked many funeral buffets. She had a strong faith and was very committed to God. Germaine loved being with people and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was married to her husband Germain John Cyr for fifty-seven years until he passed away in 2004.

Germaine is survived by her three children, Nelson and his wife Linda of Connecticut, Nancy Chamberland and her husband Don of St. Agatha, and Jim and his wife Laurel of Ontario; four grandchildren, Tina, Scott, Rebecca, and Amanda; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Martha Beaupre of Madawaska, Blanche Albert of Madawaska, Therese Gallant and Jeanine Soucy both of Connecticut. She was predeceased by her husband, Germain; and thirteen siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the St. David Church. Family and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow immediately after the service in the Parish Cemetery.
