Irene Nadeau Roy (1927—2017)

PARSONSFIELD and VAN BUREN, Maine — Irene Nadeau Roy, 90, of Parsonsfield and formerly a long time resident of Van Buren, died July 15, 2017, at the Springbrook Center in Westbrook. Irene was born on May 1, 1927, in Van Buren, and was a lifelong resident of Van Buren until 2005.

While living in Van Buren, she was a respected member of the community and was the owner of the gift shop, The Memory Box. For the 25 years the Memory Box was open, many of her customers came to know, love and appreciate this kind and gifted person.

Irene was predeceased by her loving parents, Wallace A. and Imelda Cyr Nadeau; her half-brother, George F. Nadeau; her sister, Leah Marie Munroe; and by two brothers-in-law, Maynard Munroe and Allyn Lee Blair. She is survived by her six children, Lee David of Mount Vernon, Robert and wife, Lorraine, of Goffstown, NH, Ressa and husband, David Desjardins, of Parsonsfield, Brian and wife, Grace, of Florrisant, Colorado, Michael and his partner, Denise King, of Corner Brook, New Foundland, Canada, and Tina and husband, Patrick Ayotte, of Waterboro; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Walline Blair of Naples, FL; also very special to Irene were her five nieces and two nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Springbrook Center of Westbrook for all the care and love she received for the two years she was a resident at the facility.

At Irene’s request, no service will be held. Family and close friends will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.
