Simonne S. Ayotte (1940—2017)

VAN BUREN, Maine — Simonne S. Ayotte, 77, died peacefully Wednesday evening June 28, 2017, at a Caribou hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1940, in St. Leonard, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Alphonse and Martha (Ruest) Simon.

She worked at Evergreen Manufacturing, Madawaska, until her retirement. Previously she worked with Colt Firearms, Hartford, CT, for many years. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church. Simonne love cooking for others, family and friends, or sharing her knitting and crochet. She especially enjoyed spending time and boasting about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by: two children, James Soucy of Sanford and Lisa Taggett and her husband Michael of Frenchville; three step-children, Lisa Lajoie and Susan Cyr, all of Topsham, and Michael Ayotte of Van Buren; five siblings, Theresa Pelletier of Madawaska, Burt Simon of Montreal, QC, Canada, Rudy Simon of Newport, Veronica Langlais of New Drummond, NB, Canada, and Rita Violette of Madawaska; one son-in-law, Jimmy Don Madore of Van Buren; nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Simonne was predeceased by her first husband, Leo James Soucy in 1983, her second husband Edward Ayotte in 2007, two children, Dianne Madore and Carlene Soucy, and one brother, Lee Simon.

A Mass Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
