SOLDIER POND, Maine — The Soldier Pond Beautification Committee is gearing up for the fourth-annual PondFest celebration, featuring a hometown BBQ, parade, and fireworks on Sunday, July 2.

“Other events include face painting for the kids, horse and wagon rides, and musical entertainment by many local artists with a feature performance by the hot new teen band ‘New Generation’,” said committee member Jamie Pelletier.  New Generation is comprised of several members of the Fort Kent Community High School Class of 2018.

The committee will use proceeds from the event to build a new pavilion at the Soldier Pond boat landing. The boat landing area also is where PondFest events will be held.

Vendors are welcome to participate in PondFest free of charge and can set up in the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot anytime after 9 a.m. on the day of the event, according to Pelletier.
