Grand Isle plans summer events

GRAND ISLE, Maine — Organizers with the Greater Grand Isle Homecoming Committee have announced a varied schedule of summer events and activities for all ages.

Included will be summer music at the Community Center parking lot stage Sundays through Aug. 20, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Those attending should bring chairs; there will be a food vendor on site. In case of rain events will move inside the Community Center.

The schedule includes:

Sunday, June 25 — Blessing of the Bikes breakfast at the Community Center, 7-11 a.m., sponsored by the ATV Club. The blessing take place at Mizpah at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, July 4 — Bonfire and hot dog roast beginning at 6 p.m. at the ball field, sponsored by the Fire Department.

Sunday, July 9 — Chicken barbecue, sponsored by the Grand Isle Fire Department. The first summer music concert will begin at 5:30 , with DJ Bobaroo.

Sunday July 16 — Summer music at the Community Center with Adam Ouellette, 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 23 — Summer music at the Community Center with Dick Marston, 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 30 — Knights of Columbus community breakfast at the Community Center, 7-11 a.m. Summer music with Reynold Blair, Old String, 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 6 — Summer music at the Community Center with DJ Denis Dube, 5:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 11-Sunday, Aug. 13 —  Grand Isle muskie weight station for the Fort Kent Muskie Derby. All are welcome to come see what is being caught at the boat landing. Fish on display at Community Center until 6 p.m. daily.

Sunday, Aug. 13 — Summer music at the Community Center with Dave Montford, 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 20 — Summer music at the Community Center with Dean Pelletier, 5:30 p.m.
