Frenchville selectman who resigned last week, recalled in inconsequential vote

FRENCHVILLE, Maine — Voters signaled a lack of confidence in John Ezzy by approving his recall as selectman, 55 to 49, Tuesday.

The vote was largely symbolic however, as Ezzy resigned from the board on June 6, amidst controversy regarding a road repair project on Pelletier Avenue, where he lives.

Last month, a group of residents gathered 140 petition signatures to force a recall vote of Ezzy.

Ezzy’s resignation came too late to take the recall question off the ballot.

Town officials have set a special election date of July 11 to fill Ezzy’s vacancy.
