The month of May gets off to a damp start with a low pressure system in the Midwest bringing rain and showers to the Valley Monday through Wednesday as the system approaches and crosses the region. Eastern portions of the County have a slight chance for thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon. High pressure brings a brief respite Thursday into early Friday. Another low pressure system slides up the western Appalachians into Canada late in the week producing rain across the area Friday afternoon through Sunday morning before tapering to showers Sunday afternoon and evening.

Cloudy with a 90 percent chance for rain with around one-quarter inch expected. Overnight, cloudy with a near 100 percent chance for rain with between three-quarters and one-inch of precipitation possible. Patchy fog overnight. Southeasterly winds around 10 mph.
Tuesday, May 2: High: mid-50s. Low: low 40s.
Overcast with a 70 percent chance for rain through the evening hours tapering to showers after midnight. Around one-half inch of precipitation expected. South/southwest winds 5-10 mph.
Wednesday, May 3: High: low 50s. Low: mid-30s.
Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance for showers with less than one-tenth inch anticipated. Becoming partly cloudy overnight with a 20 percent chance for showers. West winds 10-15 mph becoming northwesterly overnight.
Thursday, May 4: High: mid-50s. Low: mid-30s.
Partly cloudy through the evening with increasing clouds after midnight. Light northwest winds.
Friday, May 5: High: mid-50s. Low: upper 30s.
Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance for rain increasing to an 80 percent chance overnight under overcast skies. East to southeast winds 8-14 mph.
Saturday, May 6: High: mid-50s. Low: mid-40s.
Cloudy with a 70 percent chance for rain through the afternoon then mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance for rain in the evening and overnight. East/southeast winds 8-14 mph.
Sunday, May 7: High: mid-50s. Low: low 40s.
Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance for rain in the morning tapering to showers in the afternoon/evening. South winds 8-14 mph.
