Learning about Man’s best friend

WHILE READING the book “A Dog’s Purpose,” students in Mrs. LeBlanc’s classes at Madawaska Middle/High School have been learning more about man’s best friend. During sled dog racer Amy Dionne’s recent class visit, seventh-grader Adam Gendreau gets acquainted with one of her dogs, Shay. Dionne talked about racing, feeding routines and nutrition of the dogs and special gear that helps her stay safe in frigid temperatures. Students were impressed to learn the Madawaska native also graduated from MMHS. “I learned how much work it takes to own these dogs and to have a dogsled team. It was fun to watch some videos of the dogs training, and I thought Shay was playful and curious,” said eighth-grader Kaleb Baron.
