Orenie ‘Kit’ Bossie (1928—2017)
NEW CANADA and FORT KENT, Maine — Orenie ‘Kit’ Bossie, 89, died peacefully March 31, 2017, with family by his side at an Eagle Lake health care facility. He was born in New Canada, ME, March 13, 1928, the son of Leo and Melonia (Bouchard) Bossie.
He was a life member of the Fort Kent Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council # 0352. Orenie also did his Cursillo and is now living his fourth day.
Orenie made a living growing seed potatoes and cutting wood. He was an expert fisherman and outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed his wonderful garden, so proud of his cucumbers and onions. He volunteered much of his time to the Soldier Pond Snowmobile Club and the St. Joseph’s Parish harvest supper which he truly enjoyed and many more.
He is survived by seven children; Jeannine Fontaine of Londonderry, NH, Darold and wife, Elaine of Fort Kent, David and wife Beatrice of Madawaska, Elaine Poulin of Milo, Joel of New Canada, Carroll and wife Debbie of New Canada, Connie and husband Kevin Ouellette of St. John. 14 grandchildren; Jonathan, Rebekah, Tucker, Christopher, Nicholas, Crystal, Noelle, Sheridan, Travis, Jesse, Colby, Lee, Ashley and Cassidy. 14 great grandchildren that brought such joy into his life. Four sisters; Edwina Daigle, Ella and husband Robert Dumond, Regina St. Jarre and Bertha Bard.
In addition to his beloved wife Elsie Bossie in 2010 he was predeceased by one daughter Irene, two grandchildren; Jennifer and Lance. Ten brothers and sisters; Juliette Bossie, Paul, Leonard, Romain, Ronaldo, Normand, Camille, Lena Pelletier, Edgar, and Cecile Voisine. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Friends may call Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, and Monday, April 3, from 9 to 10:45 a.m. until time of Mass. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated with full fourth degree honors 11 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wallagrass.
