Volunteer knitters need yarn

To the editor:

Did you know that last year volunteers from the Aroostook Retired and Senior Volunteer Program contributed over 1,500 knit items to the communities of Aroostook County?  Hundreds of pairs of mittens, hundreds of hats, socks, scarves, blankets and baby sets were distributed to local schools, ACAP, the Pregnancy Care Center, the Homeless Shelter, hospitals, nursing homes, and other organizations.

Our dedicated RSVP  knitters are already working to get ahead of next year’s snowfall but we need your help. We need yarn.  Do you have a bag of yarn in your closet? We can use wool, cotton, acrylic, blends or any other type you have.

If you would like to donate please call Aroostook RSVP at 764-3396 or 1-800-439-1789 and we’ll arrange a pick-up. Thank you for helping us so we can help others.
