Man charged for driving pickup on snowmobile trail

FORT KENT, Maine — A Fort Kent man who police allege chose the wrong location to go off-roading has been charged with operating a motor vehicle on a snowmobile trail.

On Wednesday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m., Sergeant Dalen Boucher of the Fort Kent Police Department responded to a report of a pick-up truck traveling on a snowmobile trail off South Perley Brook Road in Fort Kent.

By the time Sgt. Boucher arrived, the vehicle, a 1999 Ford pickup and its driver were gone.

Upon investigation, Sgt. Boucher charged 25-year-old Kyle Spooner for operating the vehicle on the trail which connects to a trail system in the Black Lake area. Spooner will appear at Fort Kent District Court on Monday, May 1 to face the charge.
