Job Corps names Star Student
LIMESTONE, Maine — The Loring Job Corps Center has announced Josh Dunham as the star student of the quarter.
Dunham joined the Loring team in September 2016. He is from Bridgewater, and since graduation from high school he decided he needed to gain some valuable training, career-building skills and the chance to better himself for later goals.
According to Job Corps officials, once there, he wasted no time taking on every challenge and opportunity presented to him, enrolling in the cement masonry trade as well as stepping up and becoming a leader in his dorm.
As an active member of the student government, he represents his wing in promoting a positive image, and through the help of his leadership the wing recently achieved wing of the month.
In the short time Dunham has been at Loring, said staff, he has developed the capability to plan goals both near and long term. His short-term goals are to complete the masonry program while continuing to lead his peers towards success. Long term, he wants to build on his masonry skills, become a crew foreman and eventually open his own business.
Dunham’s advice for all who think it’s impossible to succeed is, “You should never give up. Eventually good things will come from your work ethic.”
He said after finding success at Loring he wishes he and come to the program earlier, because the center is “an amazing place to learn the skills needed to be successful at any chosen career.”
