Officers arrest three for OUI
FORT KENT, Maine — Over a period of less than two weeks spanning from the end of February to the beginning of March, Fort Kent Police Department officers arrested three individuals for operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
On Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10:20 p.m., Officer Curtis Picard and Officer Connor LaPierre conducted a traffic stop of a Red Toyota Corolla on Pleasant Street in Fort Kent. Upon investigation, the officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Ryan Sides of Fort Kent for OUI. Sides posted bail and will appear at Fort Kent District Court on Monday, May 1.
One week later, on Saturday, March 4 at 11:40 p.m., Officer Curtis Gagnon conducted a traffic stop on Maple Street in Fort Kent. Upon investigation, Gagnon arrested Milton Roy, age 69 of Fort Kent for OUI. Roy posted bail and will appear at Fort Kent District Court on Monday, April 3.
Early the next morning, at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 5, Officer Lapierre conducted a traffic stop on Aroostook Road. Upon investigation, Officer Lapierre arrested 34-year-old Justin Babin of Fort Kent with OUI. Babin posted bail and will appear at Fort Kent District Court on Monday, April 3.
Police also charged two minors with alcohol-related crimes on Friday, March 3. Officer Lapierre charged 18-year-old Michael Baron of Fort Kent with illegal transportation of liquor by a minor. During the same 10:50 p.m. traffic stop, the officer also charged Jesse Gardner, 19, of St. Francis with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.
Baron and Gardner will appear at Fort Kent District Court on Monday, April 3.
