Anne D. Cyr (1930—2017)

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Anne D. Cyr, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Presque Isle after a long period of declining health. Anne was born July 9, 1930 in Grand Isle, the daughter of Louis P. Dionne, Sr. and Sophie Julie Marie (Cyr) Dionne.

Anne graduated from Mount Merici Academy in Waterville and studied nursing at Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Edmundston, NB. She and Albert were married on December 26, 1950. They moved to Hamlin, to farm and started a family. Anne took great joy in raising their six children while tending to the books of the 900+ acre family farm.

She opened her own business, Anne’s Arts and Crafts, where she was able to share her love of all things creative, especially her fanciful Christmas balls, beautiful afghans, and masterful needlepoints. She was also involved with The Daughters of Isabella, The Lionettes, and Business and Professional Women Club (BPW), all of Van Buren.

In later years when Albert built and operated nursing homes and assisted living complexes, Anne, with her keen eye for style and color, took great care in decorating these areas as if they were her own home. Anne especially loved decorating for Christmas. The residents, families and visitors enjoyed her many beautifully decorated Christmas trees throughout the buildings, remembered to this day.

Anne’s love of flowers, especially peonies, gladioli, and roses, along with perfectly landscaped grounds, kept her, Albert and others very busy. She loved to watch the birds that her beautiful flowers attracted.

She is survived by her husband, Albert, of 66 years, her children, Paul and wife, Karen, Rose Marie Louten, Janet Morrill, Michael and wife, Carla, all of Presque Isle, Margaret and husband, Maurice, of St. Leonard, NB, Philip and wife, Bonnie, of Caribou; a brother, Lionel “Pit” and his wife, Lucille “Pete”, Dionne; sister-in-law, Victorine Dionne; a special cousin, Roger Dionne and his wife, Dorothy.

She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer Louten and her partner, Scott Rowlands, Christopher Louten and his wife, Allison, Denise Daigle and her fiancé, Luc Mazerolle, Andre Daigle, Theresa Cyr, Stephanie Lemon and her husband, Rob, Nicholas Morrill and his partner, Tasha Green, Kyle Morrill and his partner, Amber Ayotte, Bradley Cyr, Douglas Cyr, and Gregory Cyr. In addition, she will be missed by numerous great grandchildren.
