Last-second free throws sink Warriors’ post-season hopes

BAILEYVILLE, Maine — Caleb Delisle’s game high 30 points was not enough to get Fort Kent past Woodland, Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, as the Warriors lost 64-62 to the Dragons in Class C North play-off action.

Riley Russell made two free throws with 16 seconds left to put No. 8 Woodland up for good.

No. 9 Fort Kent found themselves behind by just two points after one quarter, but went into the half with a 32-29 lead. The Warriors battled back in the fourth quarter after falling behind 48-36. However, game clock management and those two key free throws sealed the game for Woodland.

Delisle sank five three-point shots for Fort Kent, while teammates Jacob Daigle had nine points and Josh Soucy had seven points.

For the winners, Russell finished with 11 points while Drew Hayward paced the Dragons with 25 and Kalob Moody scored 11 points.

Woodland will next take on top ranked George Stevens Academy in Bangor quarter-final action.
