Snowga and Snow Moon Snowshoe at the FKOC

FORT KENT, Maine — On Saturday, February 11, 2017, the Fort Kent Outdoor Center will host two guided snowshoeing events.

At 9 a.m., Rita Theriault will offer Snowga (snowshoeing and yoga). Participants should wear layered clothing and bring their snowshoes, ski poles, water and a yoga mat. The cost is $10 for FKOC members, and $20 for non-members. This price includes the $6 trail pass. Snowshoes will also be available to rent for $10.

At 6 p.m., guides will lead participants from the 10th Mountain Lodge to the top of Lonesome Pine Trails through the woods. While waiting for the full Snow Moon to rise above the horizon near the LPT Ski Patrol hut, a campfire and snacks will be available. Then snowshoers and skiers will head back to the 10th Mountain Lodge, with an estimated arrival time of 8:30. The event is free for FKOC members and $5 for non-members. Participants should bring headlamps, water, and warm, layered clothing.
