Letter to the editor: New lawmaker says ‘thanks’ and ‘hello’

To the editor: As a newly elected representative to the Maine House, I want to take this opportunity to thank those who supported me at the polls on November 8th. I worked hard to meet as many potential voters in order to make myself known and gather as much input as possible over the past five to six months.

I have already spent two days in Augusta getting acquainted with the processes of the Legislature and many of the people with whom I will be working. As a freshman legislator, I realize that there is a steep learning curve in the beginning and am doing everything in my power to get settled in as soon as possible.

I am currently both contacting many of the stakeholder groups as well as being contacted by several organizations regarding their needs and concerns with regard to upcoming legislative issues. I am also very much interested in the concerns of individuals, so please contact me if you wish. My (our) District 148 is a very geographically widespread and diverse region including the communities of Easton, Fort Fairfield, Limestone, Caswell, Connor, Cyr Plantation, Hamlin, Stockholm and the southeast section of Presque Isle. It is my firm intention to do whatever I can to address our issues in a manner that will make matters better in our District 148, in our Aroostook County and in our State of Maine, in that order.

In closing, I encourage all voters whether they voted for me or not for me to contact me when necessary at david.mccrea46@gmail.com or 472-4212. Thanks again and please know that I look forward to serving District 148.

David H. McCrea
Representative elect
House District 148
