Valley Voices

SAINT JOHN VALLEY – Summer is the time when many blockbuster movies hit the theaters. The St. John Valley Times and the Fiddlehead Focus recently asked some St. John Valley residents: “What is the first movie you remember seeing at a theater?”

These St. John Valley residents share their Valley Voices for the July 20, 2016 edition of the Fiddlehead Focus. Pictured are (clockwise from top left): Ashlee Gardner, Grace Ouellette, Renita Dill, Rina Collins, and Connor Pelletier. (SJVT / FhF - Don Eno and Jessica Potila)

Rina Collins of Madawaska: “It was Singing in the Rain. Mom and dad took me when I was 6 years old. It was in Edmundston (New Brunswick). I will never forget it.”

Renita Dill of Fort Kent: “Stand By Me. I was as a teenager in Lincoln, Maine.”

Ashlee Gardner of Frenchville: “Andre the Seal. I saw it as a kid; maybe (age) 5 or 6 in Millbridge, Maine.”

Grace Ouellette of Madawaska: “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner. That was many years ago. I think it was at the State Theater in Madawaska.”

Connor Pelletier of St. Francis: “Monsters University. My favorite part was when they raced. I had popcorn and Sour Patch Kids.”

Valley Voices is a regular feature of the St. John Valley Times and now the Fiddlehead Focus. Keep your eyes peeled for one of our journalists, because you never know when they may roll into your town to give you a chance to share your Valley Voice.
