Leland R. Bossie

SOLDIER POND / OCALA, FL — Leland R. Bossie, 66, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at an Ocala hospital. He was born on March 23, 1950 in Soldier Pond, the only son of Romain and Jeannette Bossie. He graduated from Fort Kent Community High School, Class of 1969. Leland lived courageously. Always with a positive attitude, he inspired everyone who had the honor to know him. At the age of 28, a construction accident left him without the use of his legs. He went on to nurture talents which included playing the guitar, harmonica and piano, as well as woodworking and making beautiful carvings of waterfowl; all of which were self-taught. His motto was, “With the right tools and a little know-how, you can accomplish anything.” His lifelong musical passion brought him to Nashville, Tenn. and Ocala where he continued to write, sing and produce his own CD’s. Leland is survived by his mother of Sanford, Maine; his son, Andrew Bossie and his wife, Amy of Kingston, N.H.; his daughter, Nicole Johnson and her husband, Boyd; and a granddaughter, Olive Johnson of Greenville, S.C. He will also be missed by his loving sisters, brothers-in-law, and their families; Arlene and Gilbert Godin, Linda and Gordon Deschaine, Mary Ann and Roger Godin, all of Lebanon, Maine, Joyce and Paul Martin of St. John Plt., Angela and Bob Pelletier of North Berwick, Maine, and Laura and Marcel Dionne of Palmer, Alaska. Leland was predeceased by his father in 1989. Although the distance in miles kept us apart throughout the years, Lee was always close to us in our thoughts and will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Graveside services will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford, where he will be buried next to our Dad. Rest in peace…until we meet again.
